Lead Auditor – Peterborough, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid working arrangement of up 3 days per week in office)

About the Opportunity

 

Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada.  The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for prescribed QA activities to support successful execution of custom Manufacturing projects. 

 

What will you do?

Your day to day: 

  • Conduct quality surveillance activities and prepare detailed reports.
  • Evaluate supplier quality plans, procedures, and processes to verify compliance to quality and technical requirements defined by Westinghouse Engineering
  • Interface with various suppliers, customer representatives and regulatory authorities on issues related to quality and compliance.
  • Perform reviews of procurement documents to verify technical and quality requirements have been correctly translated from Westinghouse design documents and Customer contracts.
  • Follow-up on supplier corrective action, evaluate responses and ensure objective evidence substantiates adequate closure.
  • Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of deficiency information to identify failure causes and trends, rate performance and measure effectiveness of supplier QA programs, and internal processes.
  • Provide input to business development, supply chain, and other departments throughout Westinghouse concerning supplier qualification and development.
  • Maintaining knowledge of various standards (CSA N299-16, N285 Pressure Boundary/N286-12, N286.7 Software, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17025:2017, NQA-1 various editions, ASME BPVC.III.NCA various editions, 10CFR Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21), ISO 19433, CSA W47.1-19, CSA W47.2, IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, SNT-TC-1A.
  • Lead and/or participate in assessments and or QSL maintenance of the Canadian supply base to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards. (Schedule, Plan, Perform, Report for supplier audits, Document findings, Follow-up with suppliers on findings)
  • Lead and/or participate in internal assessments of global Westinghouse business units to ensure compliance with applicable manuals, procedures, regulations, codes and standards. (Approx 5-7 per year).
  • Mentor and help in the development of less senior oversight personnel with the execution of verification activities, supplier oversight, and resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Managing cross disciplined teams in the execution of supplier oversight activities to verify Westinghouse suppliers have implemented a Quality Assurance

 

What will you bring?

Who you are: 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Qualified Lead auditor.
  • Working knowledge and application with CSA N299 and N285.0 standards, US NRC Regulations and European Standards such as 10CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR21, ASME B&PV Code, ISO, ANSI ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, ISO 9712 and Appendices. Familiarity with NDE techniques and applicable practices.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in various software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Interpret technical drawings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors.
