As the Global Media Consultant for Westinghouse, the Manager, External Communications will be resourceful, think big while staying connected to the details, translate technical insights into strategic recommendations, and embrace a high degree of change and ambiguity at speed. The Manager, External Communications will lead our reputational media strategy, planning and execution to increase brand sentiment of Westinghouse among key audiences.

The Manager, External Communications main focus will be on media content production across both traditional and social channels. The ideal candidate will be laser-focused on details to ensure consistency, alignment and value creation from all messaging, global brand and audience metrics. You will bring a data-driven mindset to help determine the optimal channel mix to reach our target audience and move the needle. The Manager, External Communications will work with external communications agencies and other partners that will assist in implementing tactics to ensure we are on-message, on-time and on-point to meet our established goals.

 

The position will collaborate with business partners and Communications organizational team members to develop and execute media materials that build business value and advance our competitive position.

Your Day to Day:

  • Evaluate media efforts results and prepare measures of success.
  • Ensure program outcomes receive best possible business benefit levels.
  • Develop and manage all external content to align with corporate style and brand guidelines.
  • Perform market research with agency partners as well as brand team to optimize investment return for advertising management and media planning.
  • Supervise media marketplace to remain updated on latest media trends.
  • Identify opportunities and evolving issues and interpret new technologies along with consumer reaction.
  • Develop detailed understanding of media measurement as well as evaluation standards.
  • Compile third party data sources information such as Meltwater analytics, MRI, Nielsen, and Simmons etc.
  • Analyze media research as well as translate into strategy.
  • Manage and maintain media budgets, and implement authorized plans, media payments and purchase orders.
  • Ensure approval for payment of invoices and advertising billing.
  • Develop and schedule content
  • Implement and optimize the current social strategy with regular reporting, KPIs.
  • Bring forward new ideas and creative ways to execute media activity.
  • Build and establish robust network of media relationships.
  • Develop yourself and others as a key player within the Global Communications team.

 

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, marketing communications, journalism. Master’s preferred.
  • 7+ years relevant professional experience in communications/media, public relations, preferably in a corporate environment. Global experience a plus.
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to develop quality content to meet urgent media deadlines and maximize opportunities to include the Company’s voice in media opportunities globally and across various channels.
  • Strong knowledge of media research, tracking and reporting processes, techniques and technologies     
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and the ability to communicate/collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record and passion for applying communications tools and digital technology
  • Experience in providing ongoing data management and campaign performance reporting.
  • Experience in corporate communications, brand management, social media content and engagement.
  • Ability to quickly generate quality content for a variety of platforms (e.g., digital marketing, social media, thought leadership, product promotion and advancement, etc.).
  • Working knowledge and application of AP writing style
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and excel in a lean work environment
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of coworkers
  • In-depth understanding of media principles, planning and buying functions
  • Ability to work under pressure in a detail-oriented, highly regulated market while working collaboratively and partner with both internal and external groups.
  • Self-starter with creativity and initiative to bring ideas forward
  • Exceptional writing ability, with expert knowledge in business writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Excellent planning, organization, time management and project management skills.
  • High level of taste to guide design direction and creative marketing collateral
