Field Service Technician

Level 3 technicians shall be able to
Provide reactor services field services at remote operating nuclear power plants and service center
operations, utilizing high technology service equipment and in a manner reflecting Westinghouse’s
commitment to the highest level of quality. This position serves a lead role in the performance and
coordination of daily activities.
Practice Safety First, Human Performance and ALARA principles as an integral part of all activities.
Demonstrate good housekeeping practices in work areas.
Maintain “Unescorted Access” status.

Your Day to Day:

  • Set up, operate, maintain and troubleshoot reactor services field service equipment at customer sites, using but not limited to cleaning processes, NDE technology, robotic systems and computer networks.
  • Serve as technical advisor as required.
  • Perform Service Center support functions including but not limited to service equipment maintenance and check out, equipment and facility decontamination, equipment packing and unpacking, shipment preparations, material handling and calibration activities.
  • Write and/or revise operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Provide support to product engineering and training by performing activities such as equipment modifications, equipment setup and testing, mock-up preparation, process testing, and equipment and process qualifications.
  • Accurately document equipment performance issues during field implementation, recommend options to the responsible system engineer, and ensure corrective actions are complete prior to next scheduled use.
  • Participate in performance-based training programs to maintain certifications as well as keep currentwith technology and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training programs, and conduct training classes.
  • Perform a lead role in activities, ensuring that they are completed with a high degree of quality and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail, and instruct coworkers on improving the teams’ performance.
  • Demonstrate team-oriented leadership skills in supervising projects. Develop schedules with resource milestones and budget goals for team/project.
  • Develop, maintain and modify equipment maintenance and mobilization plans.
  • Provide performance feedback to management for personnel assigned to project.
  • Maintain Resource Lead responsibilities, and perform duties of shift supervisor as required.
  • Exercise and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers and other departments. Demonstrate good customer sensitivity and customer service skills.
  • Initiate a focus on creative problem solving.
  • Should be familiar with the Westinghouse training procedure and act as on the job trainer when required.
  • Must also be able to develop training plans and document training as appropriate.
  • Must be able to schedule workflows and coordinate with other groups for resources and workspaces.
  • This position requires extensive travel (50-70%), maintenance of “Unescorted Access” status, and working with hazardous materials.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • High school graduate or the recognized equivalent plus 2 year, post high school degree/certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Specific knowledge and training in electrical, electronic, or mechanical curriculum as required as well as knowledge of algebraic formula.
  • 6 - 8 years* related experience, plus meet or exceed minimum critical skill qualifications as defined by theskills matrix.
  • Additional experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • *Years of related experience may be accelerated through demonstration of critical skills.
  • Provide technical direction and guide other personnel in equal or lower classification.
  • Provide a leadership role, and promote effective teamwork among other personnel.
  • Perform duties of Resource Lead.
  • May function as supervisor as required.
  • Receives specific assignments with respect to objective and desired end results.
  • Must apply own initiative, skill and experience to perform all functions and to make additional contributions.
