Director, Design to Value (DtV)

Design to Value is a multidimensional, cross-functional approach to identify early on the key cost drivers of the products and the main levers to influence the product cost taking into account target customer applications and supply chain & manufacturing innovations, with the goal to shape the products with the right features required by the customers at the lowest feasible cost.

 

As a member of the Global Operations Services (GOS) organization reporting to the EVP-GOS, the Design to Value Program Leader will be responsible for deploying and developing Design-to-Value (DtV) methodology and capabilities and leading these efforts across Westinghouse to make step changes improving the competitiveness of our products.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Working with Westinghouse Product Councils, Product Managers in the BUs and Product Platform Owners in Global Operation Services (GOS) to select appropriate products for DtV projects and prioritization
  • Introduce DtV toolbox (methodology, processes and templates) and develop DtV pilot projects
  • Further establish “Should Cost Modeling” capability to assist with DtV initiative and advance sourcing activities
  • Assisting in selection of DtV initiative leaders for specific projects
  • Driving cross-functional DtV initiatives through all phases from ideation to impact realization
  • Ensuring cross-functional buy-in and resource allocation for DtV initiatives
  • Defining underlying customer value with relevant Business Units, Product Councils and Product Managers or when necessary through direct customer interactions, and ensuring it is carried through to design through DtV initiatives
  • Ensuring integration of innovations from supply chain and manufacturing and outcome of competitive benchmarking in all DtV initiatives
  • Reporting progress and business impact of all DtV initiatives using Wave program management tool

 

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial preferred)
  • A combined industrial experience of 12 years + with demonstrated results in Design to Value program implementation
  • Proficient and trained in all elements and tools of the DtV approach
  • Experience in product management, innovation, engineering or supply chain management for industrial products preferred
  • Deep understanding of the full value chain and excellent cross-functional collaboration skills (Innovation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Project execution)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a global matrix organization and to foster collaboration and success of geographically distributed teams; excellent written and verbal English communication skills
