This Senior Director leadership opportunity provides executive and organizational leadership of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) functions for Westinghouse’s Global Operating Plant Services (OPS) organization. Responsible for setting uncompromising EHS standards for performance excellence, developing the EHS strategy for the learning and development of OPS employees, establishing the organizational systems and processes to support execution of Westinghouse’s EHS governance program, and overseeing the organization’s EHS performance metrics. The leader will provide strategic EHS leadership which will directly impact the achievement of the company’s goals, will ensure regulatory compliance, and support the day-to-day EHS operations of the organization.
This role can be remote in the United States or European Union.
Your Day to Day:
- Accountable for all aspects of the implementation of EHS Programs and initiatives for Global OPS.
- Establish a governance structure to ensure inclusion of all key stakeholders and effective implementation of programs/changes considering product differences, geographical differences, and performance needs/expectations.
- Oversee OPS EHS systems, programs, processes, and policies that are
- Compliant with applicable local, regional, national EHS regulations, directives, and standards,
- Align with Westinghouse’s EHS Management Systems and
- Drive excellence in the organizations’ performance in Environmental, and Health and Safety,
- Provide leadership for EHS change initiatives aimed at driving a strong nuclear safety culture which enables business growth.
- Develop and own measurement and reporting of EHS performance metrics to deliver tangible business results for OPS. Evaluate trends for continuous improvement and corrective measures as well as measuring process effectiveness with both leading and lagging indicators.
- Evaluate and ensure adequate resources for Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance along with Sustainability expectations globally.
- Develop and support OPS EHS strategic vision, partner with Corporate and Business Unit EHS leaders to develop Westinghouse’s EHS strategic vision and perform OPS EHS management reviews.
- Provide critical link between customers, regulators, and suppliers on matters of environmental, health and safety.
- Maintain overall budget responsibility for all areas of responsibility ensuring process effectiveness and adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Coordinate cross-functional needs, such as customer requests, supplier EHS, contractor EHS, mergers and acquisitions, LOA's.
- Actively participate in EHS governance councils, steering committees, and working groups as requested
- Lead development of EHS integration plans for BU acquisitions and monitor execution of the plan to ensure timely and effective integration that minimizes risk to the BU and Westinghouse.
- Communicate and facilitate finding OPS support for Westinghouse EHS internal audits
Who You Are:
- BS in environmental sciences, Industrial safety, chemistry, or related sciences.
- MBA or Master’s degree is preferred
- 15+ years’ experience required, specifically in areas of EH&S programs, Six Sigma/Lean, Corrective Actions, Human Performance, Organizational Learning, Operations, Engineering functions within Fortune 500 multi-national companies. To Include:
- 5+ years’ experience leading global EHS programs, applied international EHS compliance management, including regulatory and permitting in the Americas and EMEA regulatory jurisdictions.
- Working knowledge of nuclear industry, adjacencies and/or similar regulatory environment.
- ISO 14001 and/or 45001 knowledge and working experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a global organization and ability to create value and achieve buy-in among a diverse workforce.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution, influential management, negotiation, and change management leadership skills to facilitate and drive global company-wide change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment.
- Lead by example with high standards of performance, accountability, and ownership to deliver results using analytical, problem solving, detail-oriented, organized, project management skills
- Operational or business function experience. Individual should have had experience running functional responsibilities for operations or for a business.
- Possess tactical and strategic leadership and direction, as well as work well with limited supervision while being responsible for project management, compliance assurance, risk mitigation within EHS.
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple, technically complex assignments concurrently.
- Strong relationship building characteristics balanced with tenacity and challenging attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along the ability to effectively speak in public and provide presentations to all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Travel required: Minimum 25%
- Global Travel required
