QC Inspector

About the role:

As a QC Inspector you will perform inspection and testing activities to identify deviations that could create quality, safety, environmental hazards or malfunctions and implement corrective actions.

You will report to the QEHS Manager for Fuel Handling Equipment and Manufacturing based in Shoreview, MN. No relocation will be provided. We can entertain candidates able to work without sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities:

• Comply with procedures, codes, specifications and regulations

• Review drawings, original manufacturer product documentation, procedures, and other assembly and fabrication documents

• Perform basic dimensional inspection using standard inspection equipment like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, pin gauges and thread gauges

• Inspect fabrications and assemblies for completeness and cleanliness

• Electrical and mechanical inspections of components, assemblies and weldments

• Communicate with manufacturing, engineering, quality and supply chain to resolve issues related to product inspection

• Identify and document items that do not meet specifications

• Prepare and archive documentation related to performance of inspections

• Pursue and implement opportunities for improvement

• Express safety concerns promptly

• Periodically support:

  • Manufacturing group for assembly, welding, and fabrication work

  • EHS group

  • Engineering group for product design and analysis

Qualifications:

• High school degree or equivalent

Experience:

• Microsoft software

• Manufacturing

• Blueprint reading

• Industrial safety programs.

• Desire to pursue qualifications, certifications, and accreditation

• Experience may include:

  • CNC machines

  • Welding processes

  • Electromechanical machine assemblies

  • EHS programs, ISO 14001, ISO 45001

  • EHS disciplines like lifting and rigging, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, LOTO, electrical safety, stormwater and hazardous materials

  • Metal fabrication and assembly manufacturing process

  • Quality programs or inspection

  • Improvement projects

  • Electrical/electronic assembly

  • National consensus standards of quality such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 19443, Six Sigma, ANSI/ASME NQA1, Supplements and Appendices, IEEE Standards, CMAA, AWS, and US NRC Regulatory Guide series

  • General knowledge of major non-destructive testing (NDT) disciplines and their relationship to materials and weldments

  • Write and revise technical documentation requirements per Product, Process, or Testing Specifications, and the associated safety requirements

  • Industry recognized inspection/quality certifications (ASNT, AWS CWI, ASQ)

  • Dimensional inspection and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Engineering, procurement, training, and project management practices
