Job Description

 

We are looking for a Buyer to work at our client’s site located in Bridgman, MI for a full time contract position.  As a Buyer you will perform procurement activities for Business Unit for intermediate level of project needs and transactional procurement needs. You are someone that has proficiency in utilizing systems and analytical tools.  In this position you will assist in negotiation/persuasion with suppliers and Business Unit partners to make the best procurement decision as well as develop good working relationships with assigned Business Units by attaining an overall understanding of operating issues and priorities.  This work is performed primarily in the office with some work in the plant buildings.  We are seeking local candidates only. 

 

Job Details/Essential Job Functions:

  • Procure intermediate level of project related and transactional material and equipment following procurement guidelines with guidance of a Sr. Buyer.
  • Issue requests for quotations with guidance of a Sr. Buyer.
  • Assist in analyzing bid proposals, negotiating with suppliers at an intermediate level and awarding purchase orders.
  • Assist in resolving basic discrepancies, commercial issues, change orders, or cancellations related to purchase orders.
  • Coordinate work with suppliers, Client’s Legal, and Business Unit partners on commercial issues, terms and conditions and specifications with occasional guidance of a Sr. Buyer.
  • Support the strategic agreement process by utilizing blanket orders when appropriate for projects and facilities.
  • Participate on cross functional teams for supplier performance evaluations providing feedback to the Supervisor.
  • Support the material standardization efforts of internal business.
  • Participate in facility issues such as outages and schedule requirements and support emergency service restoration as required with direction from a Supervisor.
  • Interact with suppliers and expediters to resolve purchase order and delivery issues with occasional guidance of a Sr. Buyer.
  • Develop a basic understanding and knowledge of the Client’s Strategic Sourcing Process.

 

Job Requirements

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

 

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management or similar discipline.
  • 2 years of experience in buying, contracting, supply chain logistics, inventory management, or business administration preferably in nuclear maybe considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 years of experience in buying for a variety of products and/or business units.
  • Be able to pass criminal background, drug/alcohol screen (including medical and recreational marijuana as well as CBD oil), and employment testing.
