About the role:

Contract Component Operator position is available at the Westinghouse Columbia Fuels Facility in Hopkins, SC. You will be reporting to the Team Manager. MUST BE AVAILABLE THIRD SHIFT, hours are 11:30 PM to 7:30 AM.

Key Responsibilities:

Load bottom end plug and fuel tubes either manually or using semi-automatic equipment. Girth weld and oxide coat the tubes. Perform in-process inspection on fuel tube quality and repair operations. Label and weigh fuel tubes/rods.

You will work with a laser marker, personal computer, and U.T. inspection equipment and welding equipment, including GTAW/TIG and resistance welding. A pressurization welding station, weigh scale, and several measurement tools are also available, such as dial indicators, pressure gauges, and ring gauges. You will work with end plugger, metal working lathe, electric drills, and electric grinders. An electrode position gage and force gage are also part of our equipment.

Work from operating procedures, S.O.I's and instructions from Team Manager.

Operate tube marking and rod weigh equipment.

Prepare weld samples for corrosion, reach and pull testing. Make adjustments to weld equipment to meet quality requirements.

Unpack, identify, clean and prepare component parts by using solvents, acetone, cleaners.

Operate U.T. inspection equipment and troubleshoot pluggers, welders, cleaners, rollers and polishers and lathe.

Perform rework function.

Input material to equipment (plugs and tubes) and operate control panels.

Monitor tube end cleaning and automatic plugging device.

Maintain equipment and leave work area in a clean condition.

Follow accountability, criticality, safety, security and hygiene procedures.

Perform traceability function.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory performance required on current job.
