Safety Technician

About the role

The Safety Technician provides safety expertise to implement and monitor safety performance following the approved safety program. They function as a liaison between the Site safety and Corporate Safety organizations to eliminate workplace hazards and investigate near misses, injury reports, and safety concerns.

You will report on site at Cooper Nuclear Plant.

You will report to the site project manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attends pre-job briefings to reinforce safety expectations and address safety concerns discussed.
• Conduct site safety orientations for contractors.
• Conduct site safety inspections to insure compliance with guidelines, customer safety requirements Contractor rules, OSHA regulations, and good safety practices and principles.
• Investigate every injury, near misses, and property damage incidents to determine the reason for the occurrence and how to prevent reoccurrence.
• Fill out all necessary reports/paperwork relating to injury, property damage or near misses and forward to proper personnel.
• Must be physically able to conduct site inspections, which may include walking, climbing, stooping, bending, crawling, or reaching.
• Develop and conduct training for applicable site specific needs.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma with some college or additional training classes
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 3 years of experience in a safety role.
• Meet all applicable requirements to maintain unescorted access at a nuclear plant.
• OSHA 30
• CPR and First Aid.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $55/hour to $65/hour.
