Control Room Operator

The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring plant systems, responding to alarms, adjusting controls, and ensuring compliance with operating procedures and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate plant equipment and systems from the control room using DCS and SCADA platforms
• Respond to alarms and system irregularities, taking appropriate corrective actions
• Support plant start‑ups, shut‑downs, and load changes safely and efficiently
• Conduct routine equipment checks and coordinate with field operators
• Maintain accurate logs, records, and shift reports
• Follow all Calpine safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Communicate equipment status, issues, and operational changes to supervisors and maintenance teams

Qualifications

• Experience in power plant operations (combined‑cycle preferred)
• Strong understanding of plant systems, operations, and troubleshooting
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively in a fast‑paced control room environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Mechanical or electrical aptitude preferred
