Commissioning Manager

About the role: You will work on one of the world's largest Battery Energy Storage System Developers, for the client as their Commissioning Manager. The primary roles are to oversee the subcontractors and OEMs installation, and quality. They are also responsible for plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA Testing, and startup of a Battery Energy Storage System and Solar Coupled Power systems. To act as the Owner's representative, oversee aspects of the energy storage system. These aspects include site work, installation, status reporting, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project close out. Note that the Owner will contract a EPC; you will oversee the EPC and OEMs on the Owner's behalf. Employees in this role manage construction turnover, pre-energization, commissioning, and performance testing work performed by contractors and vendors at the project site. This is an on site role located in North Dakota. Per diem is available. You will report to the Senior Project Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications and drawings and maintain detailed punch-list
• Perform system walkdowns for mechanical complete before turnover or energization
• Oversee the EPC and OEM commissioning procedures, status, and compliance
• Help commission anomalies as the primary SME owner's representative
• Preparation and review of project close out and testing documents
• Metering testing
• ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning process management
• Overall responsibility for test administration, data analysis and final reporting

Qualifications:

• Battery Energy Storage Systems installation and startup
• Must understand the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries as part of ESS
• Commissioning process creation
• Substation testing and startup
• Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
• Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, combiners
• Can quality control inspections and punch-list management
• Experience with DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV)
• Familiarity to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.).
• 1+ years of experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting
• Engineering or electrical career in power systems commissioning with min 100MW-hr or 5 EA energy storage systems and commissioning.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $74/hour to $92/hour.
