About the role: Location: This is a remote position reporting to Juno Beach once bimonthly.

We are looking for a Lead Principal Engineer- Substation on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment. (W-2) You will be responsible for planning, monitoring and managing internal substation projects from initiation through completion. Be part of the team developing substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).

During the conceptual phase, work with the Early-Stage Project Manager and

Development Group to define and support project engineering requirements and scope. Projects may begin as FERC 1000 transmission project proposals or as greenfield projects. You would need to ensure Transmission Owner requirements and E&C engineering design are consistent, comply with all ISO requirements, and are incorporated into the project design.

Location: This is a remote position reporting to Juno Beach once bimonthly.

1-year contract assignment. (W-2)

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and complete large-scale or several medium, complex, or long-term projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.

• Secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.

• Conduct project meetings and take responsibility for project tracking and analysis.

• Identify issues, measure and validate results, and implement solutions to project challenges.

• Provide information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.

• Provide technical oversight of external engineers of record (EORs) for all assigned substation projects to ensure compliance with required generation interconnection agreements, scope of work documents, project specifications, site-specific design requirements, IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and all other applicable industry codes and standards.

• Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site and support the engineering updates, data, and permits necessary to design and build the substation.

• Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation, including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies, and interconnection agreements.

• Assist ISC with substation project scope of work creation, review, approval, and preparation of shopping carts for engineering services and materials in a timely manner.

• Manage development of substation design documents, including physical drawings, electrical schematics, and civil drawings, through the 10%, 30%, 60%, 90%, and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing sets.

• Manage the review of substation design drawings and documents.

• Work collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans, and lines of demarcation.

• Support the project schedule from the engineering standpoint.

• Support assigned project commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Master of Science or MBA Degree is helpful.

• 10+ years' experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is highly helpful.

• Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action. PMP and/or P.E. is helpful. Not required to stamp engineering drawings.

• Travel required within North America.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $70.00/hr to $94.00/hr.
