The Principal Industrial Hygiene Safety Specialist - Ogden, UT 

Long-term contract / contract to hire based on performance and attendance 

 

This position is accountable for developing and implementing safety and health programs, tools and standards, including training and communication in a manner that ensures compliance to regulatory and internal requirements as well as business needs. 

Key to this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with the Business Unit / GOS leaders along with the onsite safety and health teams to support them in driving best in class methods to achieve compliance to Westinghouse’s rigorous safety and health expectations.

  • Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxins, noise, or harmful physical agents.
  • Prepare and conduct sampling plans to include determination of appropriate analytic methods, equipment selection, calibration, laboratory interface, and data analysis.
  • Assessing industrial workstations using proven analysis and solutions methods.
  • Develop detailed solutions to identified ergonomic challenges.
  • Provide technical assistance and support and serve as key point of contact for safety issues and events globally.
  • Leads or participates in interdisciplinary teams to create and implement new or improved safety and health standards, documentation and processes. 
  • Facilitate the development and sharing of essential health and safety learning (including operating experience, lessons learned and best practices).   
  • Effectively communicate new initiatives, standards, regulations, and events throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines within the company to assure effective program implementation and cohesiveness Lead or participate in incident investigations or reviews.
  • Promote the successful integration of safety and health risk management into key business operations, processes and results.
  • Conduct / facilitate audits and assessments and identify, implement or partner with sites and business functions to implement effective corrections and controls.
  • Perform data analytics on company and industry safety and health information to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes health and safety awareness throughout the organization though effective employee communications, participation, and programming.
  • Assist in the coordination of safety due diligence for pre and post integration of new acquisitions. 

Who you are: 

BS - Industrial Hygiene 

5-7 years in Industrial Hygiene 

CIH -preferred 

US citizenship or permanent resident required.
