If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, Core Engineering & Software Development is looking for an Engineer to join the Nuclear Design team and perform complex nuclear engineering standard and non-standard analysis work, and provide technical leadership in design, development, training, performance, and delivery of complex products and services.


In this position, a successful candidate can expect to work as part of a team including but not limited to:

  • Advancement/Maintenance of Core Engineering Software and Automation Products.
    1. Engage with Core Engineering Methods end users to understand the areas for improvement & automation.
    2. Development of software & automation tools to improve quality and efficiency
    3. Engage with Core Engineering Methods end users to support implementation and feedback
    4. Coordination with software development to maintain automation and tools
  • Perform software engineering design and testing in support of the Westinghouse nuclear analysis, utility, and related code systems
  • Participating in training to obtain qualifications in the Core Engineering and/Software Design functional areas.
  • Supporting general Core Engineering Design codes, procedure and methods development and updates.


As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g. Nuclear, Mechanical, Computer etc.) or related Discipline (e.g. Materials, etc.) preferred or recognized equivalent required
  • 0-3 years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines
    • Nuclear Engineering/Physics
    • Mechanical/Materials Engineering
    • Software/Computer Engineering
  • Experience with modern programming languages such as C/C++, Fortran 95/2003, Java, Python, or C#/.NET
  • Working understanding of data modeling approaches
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in an international team-oriented environment


  • Nuclear Core Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of Westinghouse nuclear code suite (APA)
  • Working understanding of data modeling approaches
  • Experience in software projects that follow software engineering standards (requirements, design, implementation, testing)
  • Experience with source code version control systems
