About the role:

As a Junior Radiation Surveyor, you will use specialised equipment to measure radiation levels and detect contamination in several environments. Your will help ensure the safety of individuals and the public by identifying and mitigating radiation hazards. You will report to a Radiation Safety Officer and be located at a federal government or agency, manufacturing, or industrial plant in Bécancour, QC, Canada.

You will work a 4/10 schedule Monday to Thursday onsite 10 hrs per day or 40 hours per week, with 3 days off. You will have the option to work short-term (4 to 6 months) and long-term assignments (12 months or more) based on availability.

Compensation: $48.04/hr CAD; Per Diem up to $150.00/day CAD for ALL eligible employees; contract completion and retention bonus.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct radiation, contamination surveys in compliance with ES&H and Radiation programs of natural environment, nuclear facilities, and potential nuclear environments
  • Identify and control of spills of hazardous chemicals and nuclear contamination
  • Survey and inspect work areas for nuclear hazards, construction / deconstruction health hazards
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans, ensure health and safety procedures and regulations are followed
  • Perform worker pre job briefs associated with known or possible hazards.
  • Perform air sampling and data analysis
  • Document logbook and computer updates of data collected
  • Perform posting and labelling verification of hazard identification per regulations and site-specific procedures

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma required, a bachelor's degree in health physics, radiation safety, nuclear engineering, physics, or a related field an asset
  • 3 plus years required of radiation protection experience
  • Valid G driver's license and own transportation required
  • Write and pass a company administered Radiation Safety Exam (GDI)
