About the role:

As an Area Manager you will lead the achievement of quality, safety, delivery, productivity, and cost goals for the area and to drive continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles.

You will report to the Operations Manager and be located at Blairsville, PA. You will support this role 100% Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of area performance and develop strategies to improve upon in-full delivery of high-quality manufactured tubes

  • Establish area and individual goals, monitor performance, and provide feedback to ensure goals are met

  • Direct and develop area personnel in achieving area and plant goals.  Manage a group of Team Leaders (first-line supervisors) as direct reports who oversee the daily shop floor activity.  Develop the skills of the group

  • Lead a daily management paradigm to guide accountability and achievement of metrics

  • Collaborate with departments such as EHS, Product Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operational Excellence and direct the integration of these resource groups toward solving technical and other problems to achieving area performance goals

  • Lead projects, direct, facilitate, and use lean manufacturing and digital tools to improve performance

  • Manage area budget to achieve forecasted spend

  • Manage area staffing to ensure achievement of area and plant goals

  • Communicate with union representatives to establish and maintain a working relationship which promotes the efficient production of tubing

  • Model and ensure Nuclear Safety behaviors.  Develop and implement plans for meeting customer requirements; ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, nuclear and government regulations

  • Implement standards contained in Westinghouse "Codes of Business Ethics & Conduct."  Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies and enforce them within this supervised activity

  • Communicate with lead management team in the implementation and maintenance of plant policy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific or appropriate business field

  • 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Initiative leadership and collaboration skills

  • Knowledge of process improvement principles such as Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma and tools such as Visual Daily Management, Process Management, Continuous Flow, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving

  • Demonstrated operations management and lean manufacturing skills

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Must partner with customers and auditors

  • Data analytics skills including the ability to interrogate business, SCADA, and manufacturing execution systems for needed data and analyzation

  • Lead teams in a union environment

  • Break down and simplify complex issues

  • Demonstrated history of driving improvements and measurable results in a production environment
