About the role:
As an Assistant Area Manager, you will engage around department problems and improvement opportunities while coordinating the activities of Supervisors. A main responsibility will include the coaching/developing of team managers. You will include a focus on safety, quality, production and delivery through a methodology. Although this role will remove itself from day-to-day supervisor tasks, a main responsibility is to coordinate the person who will fill in for supervisor and Area Manager gaps that the supervisor and Area Manager create due to vacations, leave, and off days. We expect some amount of overtime. This role is also expected to coordinate and lead other departments (safety, quality, engineering, and maintenance) to implement sustainable solutions. There is also the potential for you to act as the Lead for projects that are outside of the department
You will report to the Area Manager and be located at Blairsville, PA. You will support this role 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, collaboration, and enhancement of worker safety through floor level training, observations, procedure adherence, and use of Human Performance Tools.
- Establish and maintain a daily management system.
- Develop measurement goals and implement strategies to support improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, capability/engagement, and productivity.
- Be a subject matter expert, collaborate with Product Assurance, Engineering, and Maintenance to lead process, quality, and productivity.
- Develop work standards to ensure best practice are documented and monitored.
- Coordinate training activities and training verification.
- Evaluation and coordination of PM maintenance planning.
- Be a mentor to team and peers.
- Establish working relationships with union leadership to guarantee a cooperative environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 year experience in operations leadership in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with payroll systems, and production planning software.
- Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the area.
- Experience with task completion and meeting customer demand in a busy work environment.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $100,800 to $126,000 per year.
