Your Day-to-Day:

* As a process safety engineer intern, you will perform state-of-the-art laboratory experiments and calculations under the mentorship of your manager or more senior engineers. Other duties and responsibilities listed below and may be assigned on an as-needed basis by your manager.

* Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):
* Perform laboratory experiments, engineering calculations, and assessments related to process safety, safe operation of nuclear power plants and waste treatment, thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, and other duties as assigned by manager
* Support software development by developing and implementing mathematical models into a C++ code base and use Git for source code control
* Prepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses
* Verify routine evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified
* Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements
* Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the business strategic initiatives
* Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks

 

 

Who You Are: 
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: 

* Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (Chemical, Nuclear or Mechanical).
*  Minimum GPA of 3.0 strongly preferred.
* Completion of Sophomore year of college

*  Must be able to work a minimum of 8 weeks; 10 plus weeks preferred. 
* US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

* Preferred Skills: coding in C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD, and/or python; experience with source code control
* Preferred Competencies: general mathematical and modeling skills, technical writing, thermodynamics, transport phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass), kinetics, multi-phase flow modeling
