About the role:

As an entry-level Process Safety Engineer, you will perform laboratory experiments and calculations under the mentorship of your manager or more senior engineers.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Chemical Process Engineering for BOP Mechanical & Chemical Process Engineering. This is a hybrid position based in Burr Ridge, IL. No relocation provided. We can consider candidates able to work without sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory experiments, engineering calculations, and assessments for process safety, safe operation of nuclear power plants and waste treatment, thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis,

  • Software development developing mathematical models into a C++ codebase using Git for source code control 

  • Prepare documentation supporting evaluations and analyses

  • Verify routine evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified

  • Plan and schedule work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budget

  • Develop skills to assume more independent assignments

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness

     

Qualifications:

  • 0+ years of experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Min 3.0 GPA

  • Familiar w/ coding in C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD, Python or source code control

  • May be familiar w/ thermodynamics, transport phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass), kinetics, multi-phase flow modeling (not required)
