This position is hybrid in nature at the manager’s discretion requiring 2-3 days/week on-site in Burr Ridge, IL located 40-minutes from downtown Chicago. We can entertain all candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future as we are unable to sponsor Visa's for this opportunity.
Your Day-to-Day:
The Senior Engineer will perform state-of-the-art calculations and support validation experiments to maintain and improve safety performing engineering calculations/assessments for nuclear safety including nuclear power plants, waste treatment and severe accident modeling like thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, heat & mass transfer radiological source term.
- Software development and implementing mathematical models into a C++ code base, Fortran, and Python
- Prepare documentation for evaluations
- Verify first of a kind evaluations
- Meet assignment requirements within schedule and budget
- Plan independent assignments and support business strategic initiatives
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- BS Engineering (Chemical, Nuclear or Mechanical)
Minimum 4 years:
- Modular Accident Analysis Program (MAAP)
- C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD, and/or Python
- Source control
- General mathematical and modeling skills
- Technical writing
- Thermodynamics
- Transport phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass)
- Kinetics
- Multi-phase flow modeling
- Probability Risk Assent (PRA)
Nice-to-Have:
- PE Certification
- 10-15 years
