IT Specialist / FS Technician II

General Job Function: 

Responsible for planning, preparing outage equipment and software. This requires equipment/software upgrades whether large or small. Setup and operate the W.I.S.E equipment which is a critical part of the IVVI program.  Monitor, maintain and resolve any and every issue that may occur for the duration of the outage. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):

  • Level 2 technician shall be able to
  • Provide reactor services field services at remote operating nuclear power plants and service center operations, utilizing high technology service equipment and in a manner reflecting Westinghouse’s commitment to the highest level of quality.
  • Practice Safety First, Human Performance and ALARA principles as an integral part of all activities.
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping practices in work areas. 
  • Maintain “Unescorted Access” status.
  • Responsibilities – IT Specialist
  • Minimal Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain WISE system to includes servers, workstations, database and networking.  Applicable knowledge of VMware virtual environment. 
  • Interface with IVVI Leads / LV III,s (Westinghouse and Utility Customer) to Help prepare and configure inspection systems with applicable IVVI scope.
  • Maintain both clean and contaminated equipment to include any upgrades to software and Inspection hardware. Trouble shooting and resolving any previously identified  issues.  Create and Maintain the Standard Equipment Inventory List (SEIL’s) for all equipment Maintained and sent to a project.
  • Interface through IVVI Level III’s / instructors and help to train IVVI Lv. II and LV. III personnel to be able to create a project as well as setup of training data base for Training IVVI examinations.
  • Interface with IDDEAL corporation to ensure updated applications versions are received installed and tested as well as work to resolve issues with the equipment.
  • Be able to assist other areas within Westinghouse with IT equipment training and issues.
  • Responsibilities – Field Service technician Level 2
  • Set up, operate, maintain and troubleshoot reactor services field service equipment at customer sites, using but not limited to cleaning processes, non-destructive examination (NDE) technology, robotic systems and computer networks.
  • Perform Service Center support functions including but not limited to service equipment maintenance and check out, equipment and facility decontamination, equipment packing and unpacking, shipment preparations, material handling and calibration activities.  Review operational and maintenance procedures and drawings in detail.
  • Provide support to product engineering and training by performing activities such as equipment modifications, equipment setup and testing, mock-up preparation, process testing, and equipment and process qualifications. Accurately document equipment performance issues during field implementation, and ensure corrective actions are complete prior to next scheduled use.
  • Participate in performance-based training programs to acquire and maintain certifications as well as keep current with technology and procedures
  • Perform all assigned tasks under general supervision, with a high degree of quality, and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines.  Maintain a high level of attention to detail, and document all quality related issues.
  • Develop, exercise and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers and other departments.  Demonstrate good customer sensitivity and customer service skills.  Develop and maintain a focus on creative problem solving
  • Act professionally at all times and follow the uniform dress policy at customer sites and at Waltz Mill as a representative of Westinghouse.
  • This position requires extensive travel (50-70%), maintenance of “Unescorted Access” status, and working with hazardous materials.

 

Competencies

  • Troubleshooting complex networking and hardware issues in a high demand high stress environment where down time is at a premium.  Ability to work long hours to resolve all issues.  
  • Able to work in a high heat environment.  Able to lift 50+ lbs, stand on feet for long period of times, climb ladders and walk long distances. 
  • Knowledge of Networking associated protocols- VPN Configurations, Tunneling, Static IP addressing and DHCP. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database-Creating, modifying and replicating multiple database. Able to create queries to pull data and/or modify database tables.  Understanding of database optimization and monitoring. 
  • Security- Maintain a secure environment preventing any data loss due to Malware, virus or Ransomware. 
  • Active Directory-Creating User Accounts and Computers with respective permissions. Also being able to create and Modify group policy’s.
  • Working knowledge of Citrix Server
  • Data Retention-Routine data backups of Computer Images and Server Images.  As wells as data created on both
  • Able to resolve any issues from non-technical personal and train them on using the system
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various plant management personnel with the ability to interface to help resolve any roadblocks or issues. 
     

Education and Qualifications

  • Education Level (Degree, Area of Study) – Minimum Requirement
  • Minimum of Associates Degree/Formal IT training with a focus on Networking, Computer Hardware and Software; Server Equipment and Software.   
  • Years of Experience IT Field
  • At least 5 years IT background/Work History. 
  • Professional Certifications:
  • Not required, but preferred.  A+, Network +, Microsoft Certified Database/Server Administrator
