Laboratory Technician Job
Your Day-to-Day
- Know and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
- Have a knowledge/use of rules and follow job specific safety requirements (Radiological/stored energy/chemical/industrial/etc)
- Work safely with job hazards such as high heat and stored energy/work safely with hazardous materials
- Train, document and adhere to quality procedures/work instructions and specified Westinghouse quality requirements
- Understand gaps in quality procedures/work instructions
- Collect and process data from testing while following procedures
- Fabricate test equipment
- Plan technical approaches by setting up and conducting experiments with support of higher coded technicians or engineers
- Support and assist in identification of test equipment with higher coded technicians
- Execute specific work steps in accordance with engineering test plans, industry specifications and standards
- Support maintenance of lab equipment
- Routine housekeeping and material disposal
- Assist in identifying calibration needs of equipment
- Utilize lean manufacturing processes such as “5S”
- Perform routine records maintenance
- Knowledge and use of Westinghouse specific administrative and tracking systems including the corrective action process and Human Performance tools
- Manage inventory including tools, parts, supplies, chemicals in shop and testing areas
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- Associate degree in an Engineering or Technical curriculum.
- No amount of experience will be permitted to substitute for the required education in Laboratory Technician position.
- However, recognized technical programs from accredited institutions will be permitted to substitute for the required formal education.
- Preference will be given to Naval Nuclear or other military programs.
