Sr Director, Global Supplier Performance


This position is responsible for global supplier performance delivery This role will: 
•    Oversee supplier technical qualification, assessing supplier manufacturing capacity and capability to deliver to Westinghouse and it’s customers product requirements 
•    Oversee supplier quality qualification and work with the Supply Chain Commercial team and Quality organization to manage Westinghouse’s Approved and Qualified Supplier List and ensure Quality at the source.  
•    Ensure that the technical and QA requirements are aligned with the customer contract and nuclear regulatory requirements and appropriately communicated to Westinghouse’s suppliers. 
•    Create and execute supplier oversight plans using project management skills and manufacturing Engineering experience  for key suppliers.
•    Ensure resources are properly allocated and deployed across projects in support of business needs.  
•    Coordinate supplier oversight and witness activities closely with the Quality and Business Unit organizations.
•    Advise the design engineering team on product spec for efficient manufacturing
Develop a world class organization (People, Processes and Tools) to execute the above.


Your Day to Day:

  • Develop and drive the implementation of a comprehensive supplier performance excellence strategy and execution at supplier locations worldwide to ensure compliance with Westinghouse quality and delivery expectations, programs, and industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to improve supplier performance by standardizing and integrating manufacturing engineering and Advance Part Quality Processes to improve supplier performance 
  • Develop a Global organization of Supplier Development and Quality Engineers across the different manufacturing disciplines to match our current and forecasted spend profile
  • Accountable for Supplier Quality Oversight Policies and Procedures to include best practices and a continuous improvement focus.  
  • Responsible to sign-off on supply manufacturing process and control plan
  • Responsible for developing supplier monitoring activities through application and overall management of the Witness & Hold Point process and other surveillance and inspection activities, product and process monitoring and product release functions.
  • Monitor product/delivered deficiencies and surveillance related supplier corrective actions.
  • Direct the project delivery stream through defined project requirements and objectives, ensuring a clear understanding of needs and expectations, and accountability for delivering required results in cost, quality, schedule, etc.
  • Establish and maintain an effective project management organization.  Provide consistent project management systems, processes, controls and risk management to assure high quality, on-time delivery of project objectives through development of standards and processes.
  • Develop and implement supplier management programs and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in key performance metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong, value-added relationships with internal and external customers to strengthen supply management effectiveness
  • Ensure that technical and quality procedures are correct and maintained current.
  • Work in collaboration with the other functional pillars in supply chain to achieve best services and solutions to our internal customers.
  • Responsible for delivering global cost savings targets, set goals and objectives through VAVE and DTV activities.  Ensure that overall budgets, schedules and performance standards are realistically set and attained.  
  • Maintain and apply global marketplace intelligence regarding suppliers’ economic visibility, financial strength and technical knowledge.
  • Identify high performing employees, provide coaching and training while developing plans to assist remainder of the team to improve performance.


Required to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Business discipline 
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred
  • 15 years of experience manufacturing engineering, manufacturing quality or production of engineered products, required.  Experience in supplier manufacturing of nuclear equipment or performance of services for nuclear facilities is preferred
  • CPM/APICS/CPIM/Six Sigma Black Belt, preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and the conceptual and analytical ability in order to define quality requirements in designs, production operations and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build global organizations and  lead and manage organizational change.
  • Customer oriented, coupling strategic focus with strong execution skills and results orientation with ability to link business challenges and objectives with tactical execution and results.
  • Ability to advise design engineering on manufacturing implication of design specification
  • Must interface, influence, and persuade a variety of individuals throughout the organization concerning strategic supply management initiatives directed at total cost reductions and quality and process improvements.
  • Regularly interfaces proactively with key department and site managers to facilitate compliance with company policies and procedures, and work to preserve integrity of the GSCS operation.
  • Competency and knowledge of theory and practice of modern manufacturing practices, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various operational and staff groups, all levels of employees and customers.
  • Work is performed without appreciable direction.  Determines organizational objectives and interprets company policies.  Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.
  • Establish organizational policies in a major segment of the company; interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies.
  • Accomplish results through lower management levels; establishes organizational structures and supervisory relationships, subject to top management approval.
  • Represents the organization as prime internal and external contact; conduct briefing and technical meetings for top management, customer and stakeholders; interacts with equivalent level managers concerning matters of significant interest to the company.
