Supplier Performance Engineering Lead

 

The Supplier Performance Engineering (SPE) group has an exciting opportunity with a new position of Lead Engineer (Grade 9) within the Global Supply Chain Solutions (GSCS) organization. The workload associated with this role is expected to be up to 50% management and oversight support with the remainder of the Lead Engineer duties consisting of technical oversight and/or project work.  The Lead Engineer will act as a Technical Leader for supplier evaluations, risk assessments, and issue resolution.  Successful candidate will contribute further to technology development, improvements, and will take team management & lead responsibility. In this role they will also directly interface and manage communications between engineering, suppliers, internal/external stakeholders, and internal executive management. 

 

Your Day To Day:

  • Lead for Single & Sole Source Supplier (SSS) Risk Analysis and Mitigation
  • Manage SSS Supplier Queue within the Approved Supplier List (ASL)
  • Assign Supplier Risk Assessments to appropriate SPE team members
  • Oversight of on-going projects under SSS Program
  • Present critical program and project status to WEC Executive Management and Business Unit Stakeholders through monthly review meetings
  • Manage supplier interactions and interface directly with supplier representatives
  • Lead for SPE Emergent Issue response Program
  • Provide first level response for project issues and concerns
  • Support resource workload planning and coordination with Resource Managers
  • Identify skill needs for on-going and upcoming projects and work with Resource Manager
  • Leadership and coordination during preparation of proposals (work package definition, coordination of technical descriptions, input to cost, resource, and schedule decisions)
  • Provide performance feedback for engineering and supply chain teams supporting projects under his/her leadership
  • Lead engineering and supply chain teams by mentoring and coaching

 

Required to be successful in the role

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent related technical discipline
  • 10 plus years of engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain experience required
  • Proven engineering leadership, either as a Technical Lead or Project Manager. including:
    • Management of teams in challenging situations
    • Frequent interactions with internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to get “things done” within Westinghouse through extensive operational and organizational know-how
    • In depth knowledge of specifications, drawings, engineering requirements, etc.
    • Strong technical interest, predisposition for multi-tasking, flexibility, understanding of project priorities and teamwork abilities
    • Extensive engineering knowledge and recognized as a subject matter expert in one or more manufacturing specialties and is capable to lead engineering efforts on a project at the discipline level
    • Work highly independent, capability of not only mentoring engineers, but also the capability of effectively leading a team of engineers in the execution of complex tasks
    • This position is US-based with a preferred (but not limited to) location in Cranberry
