About the role:
As a Safety/Industrial Hygiene intern you will collaborate with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) leaders across the organization, work on project-based hands on assignment, and gain valuable personal and professional opportunities. Your contributions will directly contribute to maintaining a safe and healthful work environment and mitigating safety/industrial hygiene impacts, both tactically and strategically.
You will report to the Program Manager of Global Industrial Hygiene. This is a paid full-time remote position for the summer, May - August 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety/industrial hygiene standards and programs.
- Participate in EHS team meetings; regularly present on safety/industrial hygiene topics and project progress.
- Conduct hazard assessments and make recommendations for mitigations.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for regulatory compliance.
- Participate in potential exposure investigations to identify causes and corrective actions.
- Work as part of an inspection or audit team.
- Develop safety briefs, training materials and provide training to improve EHS knowledge.
- Analyze data, suggest corrective actions, develop reports.
Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or similar.
- Completion of occupational safety, environmental or industrial hygiene coursework is required.
- Some experience with safety regulatory requirements.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to and from work locations (<50 miles).
- Willingness to travel to other Westinghouse locations which may include international travel.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $23.00 to $26.30 per hour.
