Your Day-to-Day:
Participate in all projects that involve additive manufacturing (AM) innovation & development within Westinghouse. This includes fuel development & many other exciting new areas. This advanced project manager (APM) position will report into the Nuclear Fuel Engineering project management team.
As the APM focused on AM you will directly project manage all scope related to additive manufacturing (design for additive, design reviews, manufacturing technology selection, manufacturing methods & vendor selection, product and materials development, method & vendor qualification, manufacturing qualification & manufacturing oversight); either directly project manage or be involved in all other design & qualification scope for projects that interface with additive manufacturing efforts; participate in setting the AM strategy for Westinghouse and be at the forefront of implementation; seek out other areas where AM can be successfully applied within Westinghouse; and oversee the development of business cases for specific applications of AM.
APMs at Westinghouse:
Lead medium-sized project teams, which includes project controls, engineers and professionals. They complete all aspects of the planning process including authoring project management plans and developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines as well as risk and stakeholder registers per the Westinghouse Project Management Requirements (WPMR) procedure;
properly close projects by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools; perform final project quality assessment and report out; identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work;
use interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team, customer, and other stakeholders (e.g., internal management) in a matrix environment to facilitate successful project completion as well as identify opportunities for additional business growth;
and identify, assess, and implement improvement or recovery opportunities that will promote successful project delivery.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as project manager leading and directing low to moderate complexity projects to successful completion including all standard project manager qualifications; 6-10 plus years of applicable Project Management preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience successfully working with AM & implementation of AM into designs
- Understanding of the Project Management Institute (PMI®)’s Project Management Body of Knowledge required.
- Advanced interpersonal skills such as effective verbal and written communications, ability to lead and direct complex team structures, able to develop relationships with stakeholders in upper management positions, able to analyze problems, establish facts, and make complex decisions with little to no supervision.
- Advanced ability or understanding of the transformation of data to information for visual reports; database concepts to manage data within systems; the interaction of company functions that are touch points to projects (Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.). High-quality presentation skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Office tools. Strong working knowledge in project schedule, cost and risk management processes and associated tools (e.g., Primavera, SAP, Active Risk Manager, or other related tools).
- Comfort and ability to excel in a matrix organization with multiple project contributors and stakeholders.
