About the role:

As Commercial Director of Strategic Projects, you will to lead business development and commercial execution for large, strategic, and complex nuclear projects globally. Leveraging the full Westinghouse portfolio, including new and emerging offerings, you will own the end‑to‑end commercial lifecycle, from opportunity identification through contract award, for high‑value nuclear programs such as Super Uprates and power uprates, major component replacements, plant modernizations, and life‑extensions.

 

You will report to the VP of LTO Commercial. This is a remote role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape winning capture strategies, build trusted executive‑level customer relationships, and deliver differentiated, value‑based solutions to nuclear utilities and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and execute commercial strategies for high‑value, complex nuclear programs, including Super Uprates and power uprates, major component replacements, plant modernizations, and life‑extensions. Own the full commercial lifecycle from opportunity identification through contract signature and structured handover to the Project Director, ensuring disciplined capture execution and alignment with Westinghouse objectives.
  • Shape and communicate the economic value proposition for strategic plant upgrades, including capacity uplift, lifecycle value, and long‑term cost position, in partnership with technical and financial stakeholders.
  • Engage customers early to shape technical concepts, commercial frameworks, and decision criteria ahead of formal procurement processes.
  • Lead cross‑Business Unit commercial integration for strategic programs, ensuring coordinated value propositions across Engineered Solutions, Fuels, I&C, and Outage & Maintenance Services.
  • In collaboration with our Global Markets team, continuously assess nuclear market dynamics, including uprate and Super Uprate market drivers, customer priorities, competitive positioning, and regulatory developments. Proactively shape and position Westinghouse early in customer decision processes for uprates, Super Uprates, and other strategic plant performance improvement programs.
  • Build and sustain trusted, executive‑level relationships with nuclear utilities, government agencies, and key industry stakeholders. Position Westinghouse as a strategic, long‑term partner supporting safe, reliable, and economically viable nuclear plant operations.
  • Provide transparent and accurate sales forecasting, opportunity pipeline management, and proposal status reporting to senior leadership. Maintain disciplined opportunity management within D365, ensuring compliance with internal governance, reporting, and approval requirements.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations, partnering closely with Legal, Finance, Engineering, Risk, and Project teams. Structure commercially competitive agreements that balance customer value, risk management, and financial performance in alignment with corporate policies.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Westinghouse services, technologies, and competitive offerings relevant to strategic projects. Stay current on engineering innovations and industry developments to ensure differentiated, compliant, and cost‑effective solutions.
  • Lead proposal strategy and approval activities in coordination with Proposal Management, including executive reviews and cross‑functional alignment. Ensure proposals meet customer requirements while achieving Westinghouse financial, risk, and strategic objectives.
  • Represent Westinghouse at industry forums, conferences, and customer events.
  • Strengthen industry networks, influence market positioning, and reinforce Westinghouse's reputation as a global leader in nuclear technology and services.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial leadership, sales, business development, or project management within the nuclear or energy sector.
  • Demonstrated experience with large, complex, high‑value nuclear programs, including power uprates, plant modernization, life‑extension, or major modification environments.
  • Proven track record of securing complex, multi million dollar contracts and strategic programs.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear power plant operations, safety culture, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and experience structuring complex commercial agreements.

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $154,913.00 to $172,125.00 per year. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
