Westinghouse’s Global Engineering & Component Services organization is hiring an individual for the Career Catalyst Program. This individual will have an opportunity to rotate through various functional areas in this Westinghouse organization, such as Systems Engineering, Licensing, Component Engineering with manufacturing plant assignment, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Civil and Electrical Engineering or Project Management/Operations. A successful candidate should be eager to learn, think outside the box and be passionate to help grow the business while developing themselves as well. The intent of the Career Catalyst Program is to support our growing business, develop leadership skills, display aspects of being a corporate steward and identify future career interests. We have 6 opportunities for the next cohort to start in Summer of 2025 with locations in Cranberry Township, PA and Rock Hill, SC.
This is a highly visible role, and a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relative to manufacturing is preferred. This can be Mechanical, Civil, Nuclear or a compartive degree. The successful candidates should have a strong leadership background, as well as a competitive gpa.
Your Day to Day:
- Through a series of rotations, learn and lead project work to strategically deliver value across multiple departments or global locations through planning, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork and gain hands-on experience and develop a broad understanding of different functional areas within the organization
- For each rotation/group, develops an understanding of the strategic direction of the group and respective department and the business environment, and evaluates how business strategies align with the overall direction of the business.
- Perform and lead engineering work tasks within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements. Develop competencies related to the engineering functional area of focus for the rotation to gain exposure to the skillsets required for scopes of work as part of greater nuclear projects, both operating plant and new plant development and deployment initiatives.
- Identifies areas of improvement and utilize problem-solving skills and data analysis to propose effective solutions to enhance the overall efficiency of each rotational group.
- Develop a strong foundation of leadership skills through communication nature and status of work performed to appropriate technical lead and management.
- Preparation for placement into a project engineer, issue manager, project manager or engineering function specific role upon completion of the rotation program.
Who You Are:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering or greater, with intent for Masters completion during employment
- Engineering in Training certification completed or planned completion prior to graduation; intent to pursue Professional Engineer license
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exhibit willingness to learn and develop
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and balancing multiple priorities
- Ability and willingness to travel or relocate based on the specific job rotations and future opportunities upon completion of the rotation program
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite software as well as analytical/calculation tools such as MathCad, Matlab, VBA and Python code languages
