About the role:
As a Fuel Rod Design/Fuel Performance intern, you will be a part of the Fuel Rod and Thermal Hydraulic Design Group which focuses on analyses for US and international customers, following approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work.
You will report to the Fuel Rod & Thermal Hydraulic Design Manager and be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid, full-time onsite summer position.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will participate in introductory fuel rod design specific training and learning seminars
- You will acquire knowledge about fuel rod design, the fuel rod components, the primary tasks of a fuel rod, the criteria that must be confirmed, the codes used to evaluate fuel performance and the different analyses performed
- You will perform fuel rod design analyses by using the internal fuel performance codes following our approved methodologies
- You will work directly with industry professionals who will teach you the technical and professional aspects of fuel rod design and working in the nuclear industry
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete Sophomore year of college
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
