Primary responsibilities: The intern will be working with all members of the Ethics and Compliance team / Data privacy team to provide support to various risk areas of the program and projects. You will be working closely with different members of the E&C/Data privacy team such that you should have developed a good understanding of the inner workings of an effective corporate compliance program, in theory and in practice. You may have opportunities to get involved in other areas of the Westinghouse Law Department e.g., corporate law, labor & employment, intellectual property, privacy, or commercial law, etc. We have a dynamic team, collaborative and inclusive culture that will enable our interns in exploring different areas of compliance and get a good feel for what it is like to work in a corporate environment.
Some but not all projects that the intern may be asked to support include the following:
- Compliance risk assessment
- Global required compliance training initiatives
- Global Anti-Bribery and Corruption Program
- Global Intermediary Program
- Global Compliance Ambassador Program
- Conflict of Interest process
- Global Data Privacy Program
In addition, intern will be asked to provide research (including legal research), prepare informational presentations based on their research and benchmarking information for various processes and projects of the Global compliance program. These will be used for “compliance toolkits”, compliance “integrity moments”, and training materials.
Minimum requirements:
• Pursuing a JD in an accredited law school, MBA, MPIA, or a related degree in business, economics, accounting, forensic studies.
• Motivated self-learner with the passion and follow through to acquire new skills
• Ability to think creatively, take ownership of tasks and adapt to changing business requirements
• High level of accountability and integrity
• Detail-oriented
• Work well in a global virtual environment that is fast-paced and constantly changing
• Ability to multitask and navigate through ambiguity
• Strong interpersonal skills, incl. good communication with the ability to articulate ideas in a precise and concise manner
Preferred Skills:
• MS Excel, SAP or related systems and tools skills
• Ability working with cross functional teams
• Effective presentation skills
• Proficiency in a language other than English
