If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Linux System Administrator - preferably a candidate local to our Cranberry Township, PA headquarters that can work a mobile schedule, however, we will consider 100% remote candidates for this role.

Your Day-to-Day:

Perform advanced system administration of corporate Business Enterprise Linux platforms. This includes installation and configuration of the base operating system, participating in the design and deployment of security updates, coordination of application support, and ongoing support of Linux systems in the corporate and customer environments.  Expectation of working closely with application team to deploy applications and resolve issues.

  • Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor others
  • Provide troubleshooting for corporate Linux Business Enterprise environment
  • Perform operating system verification and validation per CIS Benchmarks
  • Document performed work in accordance with required change management and control expectations
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams including status reporting (e.g., quality, budget, schedule)
  • Configure System Backups:  Linux administrators work with the backup team to ensure backups are configured as needed and monitor for success.
  • Monitor System Performance:  Linux administrators monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes.   The administrator is also responsible for configuring monitoring and alerting through appropriate tools.
  • Provide Technical Support and Guidance:  Linux administrators provide technical support and guidance to users and other administrators.  They work closely with developers, security and application teams to answer technical questions or resolve issues with server-side performance.  They may also support users by assisting with installation and maintenance of Linux-based programs and help debug these applications so that they work with existing servers.
  • Maintain System Security:  Actively identify faults and vulnerabilities and work to remediate in a timely manner.
  • Automation:  Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment process. 

 

 Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • 3+ years of advanced Linux system administration experience
  • 4-Year Degree or equivalent in one or more of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or another related field
  • Experience in leading projects that follow system engineering standards (requirements, design, implementation, testing)
  • Possess a mindset for identifying, analyzing, and efficiently solving variety of system related problems
  • Exhibits a drive for producing work that adheres to quality standards and follows defined processes and procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Effective communications skills, written and oral
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
