Manager, Data Science

The Data Science Manager will build and lead an international team of data engineers and data scientists responsible for the development and maintenance of the data models embedded into Westinghouse digital solutions. The manager will work closely with Westinghouse leaders to understand data science needs to support the key themes such as Asset Management, Work Management, and Business Process Optimization. Identify critical skill needs and address gaps to ensure the necessary skills are available to support the development of digital solutions.
The successful candidate will cultivate and ensure collaboration across the enterprise for data science. The role will be accountable for leading a high performing data science team responsible for the data fabric and models to deliver operational efficiencies and profitable growth, owning the Westinghouse AI platform, and forecasting technology needs to ensure Westinghouse mains our competitiveness in data science.
Your Day to Day:
- Engage with the Digital and Innovation (D&I) leaders to enable the D&I vision of driving global Westinghouse and industry modernization by providing input and executing the digital roadmap to improve the position of Westinghouse and our customers relative to safety, profitable growth, and process efficiency.
- Responsible for the overall success of the data management and advanced analytics of the Westinghouse digital solutions. This responsibility will be achieved through:
- Leading the data science team in establishing the data architecture / data fabric to enable the utilization of industry data across multiple use cases and creating advanced data models for improved operational efficiency and embedded in digital solutions to address customer needs.
- Developing and maintaining team member critical skills such as:
- Data architecture and governance
- Data extraction and cleansing
- Data fusion
- Machine Learning
- Computer Vision
- Natural Language Processing
- Optimization
- Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with leaders in AI to increase capability of the Westinghouse digital ecosystem and utilize for staff augmentation.
- Driving research and development that aligns with the Westinghouse strategy and digital roadmaps to address technology gaps to achieve the desired end state. Forecasting new technology needs based on an evolving technology landscape and promoting to leadership steering committees to obtain approval to integrate into the Westinghouse digital ecosystem.
- Owning the Westinghouse AI Platform, in conjunction with the Westinghouse Information Technology, to promote and drive use throughout Westinghouse to enable operational efficiencies and revenue growth.
Who You Are:
- B.S. degree in business management, computer science, data science, industrial engineering, statistics or equivalent
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration is preferred
- 7+ years of experience in business, operations or consultation services with increasingly progression and complexity and levels
- Technical knowledge of data science, data management, data architecture, artificial intelligence, machine learning and other data engineering / science skills
Desired Background:
- A data architecture and/or data science management background leading international team members
- Familiarity with the nuclear and energy industries
- Experience with data analytics, data fabric architecture, and 3rd party AI platforms
- Background working in a cross functional collaborative environment, assessing needs to achieve the desired end state, and structuring the team to achieve success
