About the role:
As a Mechanical Systems intern, you will support design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products, processes, components, equipment, and/or systems related to Nuclear Power Plants, including Legacy Plants, AP1000® Plants, and other advanced reactors.
You will report to the Mechanical Systems & Equipment Manager and be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid, full-time hybrid summer position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thermal, thermal/hydraulic, and piping network engineering design and analysis for with assistance of a qualified co-author
- Work both independently and collaboratively
- Support engineering personnel in multiple design and analysis efforts
- Identify problems and propose solutions to projects and tasks assigned
- Communicate with your mentors, leads, and manager on your work's progress, status, technical issues, and schedule
- Work and collaborate with other personnel regarding your responsibilities
- Perform work within established scope, budgetary, and schedule requirements
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete Sophomore year of college
- General knowledge of engineering and application of first principles, uncertainty treatments, and engineering tools through initial college classes
- Interest in systems and/or component design and analysis, including fluid systems and interfaces with instrumentation and control
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- No relocation assistance provided
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
