If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, Fuel Engineering Technology is looking for a Nuclear Core Design Software Testing Engineer to join the Software Testing Team and perform complex nuclear engineering software testing, and provide technical leadership in design, development, training, performance, and delivery of complex products and services.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Core Engineering and Fuel Engineering Technologies

    • Utilize state-of-the-art software tools to optimize fuel management and core designs

    • Maintain licensed methodologies for multiple nuclear plant types

    • Advance methodologies and software technologies for innovative products that enhance the operations of the nuclear fleet

    • Maintain Best-in-Class technical engineering leadership within Westinghouse and with our industry partners around the world

  • Perform software engineering testing in support of the Westinghouse nuclear core analysis and monitoring software systems in a strongly regulated software environment.   Activities include tasks such as review of software requirements, development of software test plans including identification of test acceptance criteria, development of test case inputs and descriptions of expected results, execution of software test plans, and documentation of tasks, results, and conclusions in each of these activities.   Software testing is a critical activity to providing quality products to our internal and external customers.   Software testers work closely with the software development and engineering users to deploy applications and resolve issues.

  • Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor others

  • Review of software requirements to ensure testability

  • Development of Test Plans, including the definition or elicitation of testing acceptance criteria, to validate software requirements for new or modified software functionality

  • Execution of Test Plans, review and analysis of test results and documentation of test results and conclusions

  • Inspection and verification of Test Plans/Results authored by other qualified Software Testers

  • Development of tests to verify code modifications for corrections and minor enhancements

  • Performance of software verification and validation activities

  • Documentation of testing activities in accordance with required engineering procedures

  • Effective communication with customers, software development, and engineering groups

  • Identification and implementation of improvements in software testing processes and technology

  • Provide input to complex software release project objectives, detailed plans, technical scope descriptions, resource estimates, and support the ongoing project management

 

 

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering Required

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

 

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with the application of the nuclear design software to the analysis of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWRs) plant types, fuel types, and operational strategies

  • Experience utilizing and/or understanding core monitoring systems for PWRs

  • Familiarity with software testing processes applied to engineering software

  • Experience in software projects that follow industry software engineering standards (ex. NQA-1)

  • Developing and providing technical presentations

  • Aptitude to work with little guidance and oversight

  • Team leadership experience

  • Familiarity with languages, such as Fortran 95/2003, C/C++, Java, Python

  • Familiarity with execution of engineering calculations on the Linux platform
