About the Role:
Westinghouse is looking for a Nuclear Engineer - Radiation Analysis. You will collaborate within small teams to solve complex nuclear engineering challenges, with a focus on radiation transport, radiation source term analysis, and reactor fluence.
Radiation Engineering & Analysis has supported the design and analysis of PWRs since the early days of the commercial nuclear power industry. Its scope has expanded from the Westinghouse fleet to include the Combustion Engineering PWR fleet, the BWR fleet, and several advanced reactor designs such as the Westinghouse AP1000® plant, AP300TM small modular reactor, and eVinciTM microreactor. Our market is global with customers in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, covering the operating fleet, decommissioning, and new build. To meet this demand, our staff is also global with engineers in the U.S., Spain, Germany, and India.
You will report to the Manager Radiation Analysis Engineering in the Radiation Engineering & Analysis group. You will work fully remote in the United States. We are only able to consider candidates authorized to work in the United States. We do not offer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a technical leader for fluence/dosimetry analyses, including license renewal and 24-month fuel cycle transitions.
- Neutron transport calculations in and around the reactor vessel:
- Review plant drawings and build transport models.
- Perform fluence, activation, heating rate, and dosimetry calculations.
- Critically analyze results and produce technical documentation.
- Radiation source term calculations:
- Analyze post-irradiation compositions using ORIGEN, coolant activity.
- Oversee and verify the accuracy of the work of others.
- Determine scope and schedule and provide cost inputs for offers.
- Lead new product and service offerings.
Occasional travel to industry meetings and to customer sites for short field work assignments may be required.
Qualifications:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- BS in Engineering required, with a preference for Nuclear Engineering or similar.
- 10+ years applicable experience in the nuclear industry to include high-level skills qualification in deterministic neutron transport, dosimetry analysis, radiation transport calculations, and reactor vessel fluence analysis.
- Engineering leadership as a Technical Leader including:
- Manage teams in challenging situations.
- Frequent interactions with customers.
- Analytical technical skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with Linux, programming, and computational simulation.
- Experience with relevant computer codes (RAPTOR, DOORS, SCALE).
- Proficiency in multiple languages beyond English.
