The Principal Customer Solutions Engineer in the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Engineering organization will lead business unit and engineering teams in identifying, developing, and offering products and services that provide our utility customers with solutions to complex technical problems.  Additional requirements and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Demonstrate broad and extensive product knowledge of the offerings within the product line, including some or all of the following:
    • License Renewal
    • Licensing
    • Specialty Testing at the Churchill site
    • Radiation Analysis
    • Nuclear Operations
    • Reactor Vessel Integrity
  • Analyze request for quote (RFQ) requirements and lead proposal development; from development of scope and technical aspects, as well as cost estimates, and development of pricing strategies through complex negotiations with customers to secure order entry and grow backlog.
  • Initiate and grow business relationships with utility customer engineers and management to position Westinghouse as a consultative partner in the marketplace.
  • Evaluate customer needs and industry trends to identify areas for revenue and margin growth; work to close both technical and commercial gaps to position Westinghouse as #1 or #2 in the marketplace.
  • Assist in financial forecasting to provide an accurate assessment of both financial timing and results for opportunities
  • Assist Project Managers and Contract Managers on contract changes.
  • Facilitate opportunity management and interface with Account Teams and Sales Teams to maintain opportunity database (D365).  Additional interface support activities include Growth Planning, Key Opportunity Review, Marketing Material, Capture Plan Development.
  • Work with project execution stakeholders, as needed, to exceed revenue and margin objectives.
  • Assist product managers in the development and implementation of strategic plan; ranging from individual product strategies to department level business plan
  • Collaborate with Global Operation Services to develop breakthrough technologies and cost improvements to support growth initiatives; facilitate organizational learning and continuous improvement.
  • Complete development opportunities such as contributing to project execution work on a project within the portfolio to deepen product understanding and customer relationships. Although this role has a priority on business development, there is potential for technical development within the relevant product line in conjunction with business needs
  • Communicate effectively and confidently with Westinghouse leadership; capable of conveying both complex technical and financial information both informally and in presentation format.  Understanding of the interaction of company functions that are touch points to opportunities and projects (e.g. Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.).
  • Perform work in a highly independent manner; following through on actions and commitments and demonstrating accountability for results.
  • Develop Customer Solution Management skills in organization to ensure “bench strength” and succession planning.

 

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Project Management, Business or related field. 
    • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and industry meetings (~10% travel)
