Principal Estimating Specialist

As a Principal Specialist for APX Estimating you will support APX Fleet Delivery by leading the development of high-quality, compliant project cost and pricing estimates for proposals and contracts. You will oversee major elements of the estimate, provide input to and support consolidation of detailed Basis of Estimate (BOE) documentation, and ensure understanding across technical, schedule, risk and financial inputs.
You will play an important role in standardization and continuous improvement within the APX Project & Portfolio Planning organization. You will report to the Manager, APX Cost Estimating, and work in the US Cranberry Woods offices and work in a hybrid capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for cost and price estimating for complex projects from Feasibility Studies through FEEDs and EPCs.
- Lead estimate collection, integration and reviews during proposal development, managing team inputs and reviews, supporting governance, ensuring clean turnover to execution.
- Steer costing estimating requirements and pricing strategy by interpreting solicitations and aligning cross -functional input teams (including technical, project management, finance, commercial, PMs, and finance representatives)
- Develop and validate complex cost and price models and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for RFPs, proposals, and task orders
- Maintain use entry level knowledge of the APX products basis and commercialization strategy lead to cost and price volumes integration.
- Ensure consistency between technical and cost content.
- Implement standard estimating processes, documentation, perform independent reviews, and maintain documentation record process for audit readiness.
- Develop team capability by sharing advanced methods, coaching peers, and leading focused knowledge-transfer activities.
- Innovate process improvements that increase consistency and efficiency or estimates and challenge reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, engineering, project management, finance, or related discipline. We may consider equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- 5+ years of progressive cost & price estimating experience, including ownership of complex cost and price estimates, BOE and review leadership.
- Experience structuring alternatives facilitating discussions, building team member agreement, building agreement, sharing lessons learned with peers, and resolving estimating challenges.
- Written, verbal, and facilitation skills
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. We estimate the base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon qualifications, to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
