We are looking for a Fuel Performance Lead Engineer with in-depth knowledge and experience in nuclear reactor fuel performance methods, analysis, and design.  The successful candidate will be part of the technology innovation team responsible for development of advanced core analysis methodology for new plant designs worldwide, including Westinghouse’s eVinci and LFR designs.  We will consider a Remote/Mobile candidate for this role.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Develop new technology products and services for operating plants
  • Develop fuel performance models, methods, and codes for innovative fuel for new reactor designs and fuel products, including TRISO fuel
  • Applying fuel performance codes and methods for existing and new fuel and cladding materials
  • Explore and apply new technologies such as high-power computing, machine learning, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and uncertainty quantification to the fields of reactor core and the fuel performance analysis
  • Be part of the multi-discipline team on development of multi-physics code system and analysis methods
  • Support eVinci and ATF product development efforts
  • Support commercial groups on marketing new technology products and services to meet customer’s needs
  • Support regulatory reviews and approvals of technical products and services
  • Collaborate with universities, national laboratories and other external partners on reactor and fuel-related research and development

Requirements:

  • M.S. or PhD in engineering (nuclear, materials, or mechanical), and advanced post-graduate degree preferred
  • 10+ years in nuclear fuel performance research, development, design or analysis
  • Knowledge and experience with fuel performance codes (such as FRAPCON/FRAPTRAN, FAST, or BISON), BISON knowledge is preferred
  • Proficiency in code and software development and engineering applications.  Knowledge and experiences in high-power computing and parallel programming preferred
  • Strong communication and team work abilities and skills
