Your Day-to-Day:

  • Serve as Technical Lead for Reactor Vessel, Containment Vessel and Fracture Mechanics Projects
    • Technical Lead responsibilities include:
      • ensuring technical adequacy of deliverables: and providing
      • technical oversight and guidance throughout the design analysis process,
      • supporting the project manager  to ensure cost and budget are aligned and deliverables meet requirements and
      • supporting the resource manager with assignments as well as acting as a mentor to less experienced resources.
  • Desire to learn and lead ASME Section XI Fracture Mechanics analysis and / or Section III, Subsection NE, design and analysis efforts
  • Engineering tasks specifically include fracture mechanics evaluations per ASME Section XI guidelines for vessel and piping components and / or Section III design and analysis efforts (including design specifications and design reports)
  • Use of in-house Westinghouse software (e.g. WES_FRAMES, KCAL_PWSCC, WESTEMS, etc) to perform ASME Section XI evaluations as well as commercially available Finite Element Analysis software (ANSYS).
  • Collaborate with a team of 2 – 3 engineers on a weekly basis.
  • Ability to interface with plant utility customers to resolve issues.  Work with EPRI and PWROG members on large fracture mechanics projects.
  • Mentor new engineers on developed skillsets.
  • Interfacing with external customers to define project scope and resolve comments on documents
  • Providing customer consultation to resolve NRC questions and requests for additional information


Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

•    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering 
•    Minimum 8 to 10 years of applicable experience required; 12 plus year preferred

  • Component structural analysis
  • Piping systems and component analysis

•    Experience with ASME Section III and Section XI criteria preferred
•    Experience with FEA and ANSYS/ABAQUS preferred.
•    Strong communication skills 
•    Ability to learn quickly and display a strong attention to detail

•    Nuclear plant primary systems knowledge preferred
