A Product Manager in the Americas I&C organization leads business unit and engineering teams in identifying and developing products and services that provide our utility customers with solutions to complex technical problems.  Primary responsibility is for the profitable growth (OE growth, MAS %, and Innovation IRR) of a specific offering segment and requires deployment of product strategies that are aligned with Westinghouse’s overall strategy and goals.

 

You Day to Day:

  • Communicate effectively and articulately the value proposition for the product offerings within the AI&C product line.
  • Assess and analyze the market to support capture strategy planning (including identification of winning price and target cost); including market trends, customer buying patterns, lessons learned, and competitor moves.
  • Initiate and grow business relationships with utility customer engineers and management to position Westinghouse as a consultative/influential partner in the marketplace.
  • Manage the product lifecycle; identify and secure the investment(s) needed commensurate with business case to secure market share.
  • Responsible for product development and product strategy planning; develop and drive product roadmaps by setting targets for GOS/D&I, chairing gate reviews, and ensuring time to market.
  • Evaluate customer needs and industry trends to identify areas for revenue and margin growth; work to close both technical and commercial gaps to position Westinghouse as #1 in the marketplace.  Deliver quality bids resulting in wins.
  • Interface with Commercial Operations to grow pipeline (opportunity database in D365).  Additional interface support activities include Growth Planning, Key Opportunity Review, Marketing Material, Capture Plan Development, and contract negotiation.
  • Deliver accurate forecasting (SOPAR) for both financial results and resource demand.
  • Collaborate with GOS on strategic priorities; develop breakthrough technologies, protect intellectual property, and achieve cost improvements to support growth initiatives (WAVE).
  • Communicate effectively and confidently with Westinghouse leadership; capable of conveying both complex technical and financial information both informally and in presentation format.
  • Understand and navigate the interaction of corporate functions that are touch points to product management (e.g. Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.).
  • Develop Product Management skills within the organization to ensure “bench strength” and succession planning.

 

 

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Project Management, Business or related field.  MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically 10+ years of related experience in positions with increasing levels of complexity and accountability.
  • Strong understanding of financials; specifically the relationship between sales, margin, and orders entered and the levers available to positively impact each.
  • Ability to work in a highly independent manner; following through on actions and commitments and demonstrating accountability for results.
  • Reputation as a thought leader and strategic thinker able to filter, absorb, and act decisively on complex information.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and industry meetings (~10% travel)
