f this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer – Nuclear Island & Licensing Project Engineering based in Cranberry Woods, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

 

This position is hybrid in nature requiring 2 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse Global Headquarters facility in Cranberry Woods, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.  We are able to entertain all candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future as we are unable to sponsor Visa's for this opportunity.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Learning, applying, and reinforcing nuclear safety Culture Traits and Human Performance tools at Westinghouse.
  • Supporting and/or leading internal Department projects which may include:
    • Department improvement initiatives for future estimation process for New Plant Builds
    • The creation of a database for Front End Engineering Development (FEED) Scopes and Technical Descriptions.
    • Optimization efforts for Long Lead procurement items (LLIs) and AP1000 Construction Support.
  • Interface with construction partners, module suppliers/fabricators, potential customers, partners, and regulators in support of Westinghouse stakeholder engagement plans
  • Support various aspects of future bid and proposal efforts. This includes:
    • Reviewing technical specifications for new nuclear power plants issued by potential customers.
    • Reviewing technical specifications for partnership proposal from other plant designer organizations
    • Develop Westinghouse technical positions with the support of the relevant technical groups, your manager, and other experienced resources in the department.
    • Defend these positions in front of potential customers or partners.
  • Assess incoming technical requests and develop response plan.
    • Technical requests may stem from interactions with incumbent module suppliers, potential customers, regulatory engagement, or internal projects.
    • When a technical request is assigned to you, your role, with the support of your manager and other experienced resources in the department, will be to engage with the wider Global Engineering Services organization to develop a response plan and provide cost estimates.
  • Compile existing technical design information across various technical areas into reports.
    • Once the response plan has been reviewed and approved, your role will be to implement the response plan.
    • If the work is planned to be performed by our department, this means executing the tasks assigned to you on time, on budget and with the right quality.
    • If some of the work is assigned to other groups, this includes interacting with the responsible engineering groups for any support calculations, analyses or reviews and steer the work to meet our schedule, budget and quality commitments.

 

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.  Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, Electrical or Civil Engineer preferred.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience preferred.  A minimum of 3 years.
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Ability to establish effective networks across various functional areas.
