Your Day to Day

  • Responsible for all project management processes on moderate complexity projects, a portfolio of lower complexity projects, or a portion of a high complexity project/program. Lead medium-sized team (average 10–30 team members), which may include project controls and sub-project managers. Support proposal process for moderate complexity projects, as assigned.
  • Supporting and Developing Proposals for Commercial and Government Customers
  • Assist in formulation of strategies and cost estimates for new projects.
  • Oversee the development of cost estimates and offers for operating and decommissioning plants to support Chemical Decontamination, Waste Management, Reactor Segmentation, and other decommissioning projects. Support and/or drive customer negotiations.
  • Create long term value solutions that translate into order entry/backlog
  • Develop WEC and partner relationships
  • Negotiate with customers and suppliers to obtain contracts which contribute revenue growth, significant profit margin and effectively manage contract changes.
  • Complete all aspects of planning process including authoring project management plans and developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines as well as, risk and stakeholder registers per the Westinghouse Global Project Management Process.
  • Based on project management plan, follow department protocols for acquiring team members as needed to complete the work. manage and integrate all aspects of project including scope, schedule, cost, risk, procurement, quality, resources, communications, and stakeholders. Interpret and transmit project/contract requirements, and subsequent changes, to functional groups following an integrated change management process. Coordinate project communications ensuring team, customer, and all stakeholders are kept informed of status. Develop or oversee project records in standard databases, systems, and procedures to ensure efficient handling and transmission of project correspondence and documentation internally and externally.
  • Use interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team, customer, and other stakeholders (e.g., internal management) in a matrix environment to facilitate successful project completion as well as identify opportunities for additional business growth
  • Identify, assess, and implement improvement or recovery opportunities that will promote successful project delivery. Evaluate, develop and lead business growth opportunities i.e. obtain order, up-sales, scope increases, technological advancements, etc.
  • Use and support Westinghouse project management systems and controls for various projects assuring senior management is provided with up-to-date and accurate reports of each project status.
  • Formulate and implement highly complex product plans. Improve development of program plans and facilitate communications/ expectations via program kick-offs, interim program review meetings, etc.
  • Analyze and resolve highly complex technical, commercial, and operational issues to provide high quality services/systems, enhance positive customer and supplier relations, and increase/maintain profit margin.
  • Analyze contract requirements and assist in developing project-specific deliverables to enable successful program implementation, to enhance customer satisfaction and program performance. Analyze needs and develop unique customer satisfaction improvements to address customer needs for support, high quality and efficiency to provide quick turnaround and maintain performance.
  • Understand problems and points of view and communicate on broad range of technical disciplines to resolve technical, commercial, and regulatory issues.
  • Serve as Westinghouse Project Manager to develop team agreements
  • Lead/Participate in consortium/partner development in offer phases and Lead consortium and partners in execution of contracts
  • Responsible to meet or exceed as-sold financial objectives for assigned projects.
  • Use and support Westinghouse project management systems and controls for various projects assuring senior management is provided with up-to-date and accurate reports of each project status.
  • Support financial planning objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective project organization. Establish staffing levels and for project operations. Make job assignments, supervise, and direct efforts of department personnel. Optimize personnel to maintain organizational excellence.
  • Coordinate and work closely with in varying levels of Westinghouse management.
  • Maintain good working relationships with the customers.
  • Promote Westinghouse Project Excellence with customers especially PM qualification and certification
  • Actively promote a culture that ensures positive Human Performance behaviors; ensure project personnel have the awareness and understanding of industry, customer and Westinghouse expectations.
  • Personal leadership/behavior of Industrial and Nuclear Safety and continuous learning on your projects.
  • Regular interface and communications with the senior levels of Westinghouse management as well as the Director, of Reactor Decommissioning.
  • Deliver MAD greater than or equal to MAS  – Projects to be delivered safely, on-time, with high quality, and first time execution success
  • Properly close project by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools. Perform final project quality assessment and report out. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons, and risk avoidance for future work.

 

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you’d bring the following to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related technical discipline required; Advanced degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction or Business preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as project manager leading and directing low to moderate complexity projects to successful completion (3 years in technical/engineering role and 2 years as project manager may be considered as equivalent);
  • 6 -10 years of experience as project manager in a technical industry such as engineering, manufacturing, nuclear or construction is preferred.
  • Familiar with the Project Management Institute (PMI®)’s Project Management Body of Knowledge required. PMI Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification or other approved equivalent project management certification is required.
  • Westinghouse Advanced Project Manager qualification completed or in process. The successful candidate will be required to complete the APM qualification within a designated time period. Exemptions may be provided based on prior training and work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, such as effective verbal and written communications; ability to lead team members; ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and ability to make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned, with minimal guidance from supervisory Project Managers and mentors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Office tools and SAP
  • Knowledge and skill of project scheduling and cost management.
  • Demonstrated ability or understanding of the transformation of data to information for reporting, High-quality presentation skills, and Negotiation Skills.
  • Experience with Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, and Active Risk Manager a plus.

 

* Travel is required for the position (25-75%), including international travel, this could include long term site assignment at domestic nuclear plants performing decommissioning
