About the role:

As a Senior EHS Director - Nuclear Fuel Manufacturing you will be accountable for establishing and promoting a world-class industrial safety culture, with the expectation that everyone goes home safe every day. Lead safety results reporting across the organization, analyze trends, and develop programs to improve performance. Engage, communicate, and influence across the business to foster a culture of error prevention, operational excellence, and compliance. Lead the development and implementation of periodic global Safety Stand Downs to maintain visibility of safety initiatives and proactively identify and address safety concerns.

 

You will report to the President, Nuclear Fuel and be located at Columbia, SC or Springfields, UK (Blairsville, PA: Ogden, UT or Cranberry, PA are also acceptable locations). The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on-site collaboration at our office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the long-term environmental, health and safety strategies for the global Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Manufacturing.
  • Ensure and promote a world-class industrial safety culture, in which our expectation is that everyone goes home safe, every day.
  • Ensure implementation of Corporate EHS programs, plans, expectations, and procedures within the businesses and at all sites to exceed environmental, safety and health performance goals.
  • Lead a direct-report organization of 2 managers and an indirect-report organization of 5 manufacturing site EHS leaders.
  • Lead the Nuclear Fuel Manufacturing EHS Council, overseeing safety, sustainability, risk, emergency preparedness, and compliance.
  • Lead safety results reporting across the organization, analyze trends, and develop programs for improving performance.
  • Partner with sites to ensure EHS regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental incident response, and nuclear material accountability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the corporate Quality organization to ensure integration of programs where applicable, and to partner with them in ensuring global implementation of all programs.
  • Assess existing EHS-related regulatory programs and identify any deficiencies; develop action plans to address gaps and preclude external agency audits or investigations.
  • Lead EHS audit processes and conduct periodic audits to reduce risks and address issues.
  • Communicate and influence across the business to develop an organizational culture of error prevention, operational excellence, and compliance.
  • Lead development of global Safety Stand Downs to maintain visibility of safety programs and identify and address safety concerns.
  • Develop educational training programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in a broad range of technical or manufacturing environments, with at least 5 years in progressively responsible management positions
  • Experience managing a team of matrixed leaders from multiple locations and cultures
  • Experience working across organizations, and across international regions and cultures.
  • Familiarity with federal, local, corporate and global regulations to ensure compliance.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $189,300 to $236,500 per year. In addition to the base pay, this role may be eligible for incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
