Your Day-to-Day:
This position provides leadership, strategy, and direction for the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) disciplines for all sites and projects in Global Engineering & Component Services (GECS). The primary objective is to effectively implement and continually improve EHS processes and results to ensure the safe and regulatory compliant production of commercial nuclear fuel and components. This management position serves on the GECS leadership team, provides strategic direction, collaboration, and communication to Site Leaders, EHS Leads, and other stakeholders, working to improve EHS performance across multiple international sites and a GECS workforce exceeding 2,500 employees. Issues faced are often complex and require the ability to influence others, including executive leadership, to accept and adopt new approaches, practices, and solutions.

Responsible for developing comprehensive EHS Strategy to identify, quantify, and mitigate risk to the environment, people, process, and profitability of ongoing complicated, diverse operations at GECS sites

Serves as member of the GECS Leadership Team to ensure impactful thought leadership and effective decision making on programmatic issues in the areas of environment, health, and safety

Performs as thought leader for a complex set of EHS issues, advising at both the site level and senior management level

Serves as agent for change, challenging the status quo and enabling new and innovative solutions to known problems.

Evaluates, implements, directs and aids in development of EHS policies, programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulations and requirements

Develops and leads comprehensive, cross-discipline EHS improvement plans across all GECS sites

Coaches, and develops cross-functional team / staff of Environment, Health, Safety, and Security subject matter experts and leverages Corporate QEHS and GOS Central EHS support functions to complement known gaps

Utilizes expert Project Management leadership skills to ensure workplans are developed, executed, and documented

Effectively influences a matrixed organization & peer leaders regarding their ownership for day to day EHS operations

Effectively engages and influences entities including corporate organizations and regulators

Ensures proper and timely investigation and reporting of environmental health and safety associated incidents

Ensures determination of root cause and implementation of appropriate corrective action, sharing of learnings across GOS, and enhancement of environmental health and safety policies related to events

Develops and maintains impactful working relationships with key external stakeholders, regulators and the public at large

Oversees the GECS EHS function and maintains focus on the technical expertise, bench strength, and leadership/change management skills necessary to support the GECS organization

Ensure comprehensive strategic / continuous improvement plan exists for regulatory compliance activities

Ensures that the EHS programs enacted are both effective and efficient, contributing to EHS being a competitive advantage for GECS and Westinghouse.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university is required, specializing in Safety or Environmental is preferred.

10+ years of EHS related experience, demonstrating increasing responsibility and scope over that span.

10+ years of management / people leadership experience
-
Project management experience is preferred.

Proven organizational development and project leadership acumen
-
Ability to understand and navigate numerous and complex environmental health and safety laws and regulations and their application in manufacturing industry. Nuclear industry experience preferred.

Strong background in executing environmental and sustainability strategies and providing operational direction is preferred.

Demonstrated success in serving on global, cross-functional leadership teams
-
Experience and proven success working in highly regulated manufacturing environment, preferably at multiple locations which allows for wider scope and depth.

Experience managing teams and/or complex projects within large organizations, preferably at both site-level and global support level.

Experience in leading EHS Management Systems to ensure a programmatic approach to issues
-
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage a geographically dispersed team and synergize their collective effort to accomplish business objectives. International experience preferred,

Ability to collaborate productively with regulatory agencies at local, state, and federal levels
-
Creating systems and processes to ensure work is done both efficiently and effectively
-
Solid background and knowledge of leadership & management principles, practices, and concepts
-
Expert project management, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
-
Superior ability to influence / persuade stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external
-
Superior analytical and problem-solving capability; exceptional communication, organization, and leadership ability; ability to flourish even when dealing with ambiguity

Strong business acumen, short- and long- term business understanding
