Senior Engineer – Structural Analyst

 

This position is hybrid in nature requiring at least 3 days/week on-site at the 51 Bridge Street eVinci Accelerator facility in Etna, PA, and the other days telecommuting.  No relocation will be provided for this position.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Perform design and analyses for the development of one or multiple high temperature reactor components.
  • Support the development of the plan for design and analysis from preliminary through final design.  This will include decomposition of performance and structural related requirements with a focus on assessing and implementing lessons learned and best practices within the group.
  • Use of analysis tools, such as finite element simulations (ex. Ansys) and closed-form solution calculations to qualify component design. 
  • Develop, solve, and post-process thermal and structural finite element simulations in ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical (APDL) to support integrated downstream evaluations.
  • Execute component qualifications through ASME BPV code Section III Division 5 (High Temperature Reactors) methodologies.
  • Support component lead by interfacing with other component, system and manufacturing leads on the integration of the subsystems and work through emergent design issues.
  • Work outside of organization to develop plans for functional and qualification tested as needed.
  • Work with project managers and subsystem/component leads to develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Accomplish project objectives while meeting established schedule and budget requirements.
  • Identify and define technical issues, risks and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Incorporate the use of industry, regulatory, or NRC/DOE/ASME codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to nuclear reactors in design activities. 
  • Communicate with management on the progress of the design, technical issues, risks and lessons learned during the project. 
  • Strong personal accountability for delivery of high-quality engineering.

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, (alternate degrees such as nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, etc. will be considered with component design experience).
  • Familiarity in the nuclear industry or reactor technology (preferred).
  • Knowledge and experience with design of components (experience in ASME Section III evaluations, preferred).
  • Experience in a technical leadership role preferred, working autonomously as an individual contributor or leading a small technical team – with aspects of design and analysis.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and at least a familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical (APDL).
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience required or 4 with an advanced degree.
  • PE License (Preferred).
