Your Day-to-Day:


  • Perform and lead others in the design and analysis of advanced reactor cores (including fast reactors), and radiation transport analysis, e.g. for shielding applications.
  • Perform modeling of first-of-a-kind radiation experimental configurations.
  • Participate and lead others in nuclear experimental measurements supporting both Product Line commercial initiatives and development projects.
  • Advocate for Westinghouse initiatives with nuclear professional organizations, committees, government entities, university and national laboratories.
  • Lead complex and moderately-complex technical projects, coordinating multi-functional teams to accomplish project objectives while meeting established schedule and budget requirements.
  • Identify and define technical issues and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Bring engineering rigor to resolution of problems that are sometimes loosely, or only partially, defined.
  • Verify work of other engineers on assignments that range from basic to complex.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to other personnel.


Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:


  • Employer will accept Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, or related field and two years of work experience in job offered or two years of work experience in a related occupation.
  • Experience must include: 1) Experience in reactor physics modeling of lead-cooled fast reactors using stochastic code such as SERPENT; 2) Application of the reactor physics codes to the advanced reactor modeling and analysis; 3) Reactor physics modeling and analysis of water-cooled reactors; 4) Knowledge of heat transfer basics and application of thermal hydraulics codes (system and subchannel) to nuclear reactor modeling and analysis; 5) Experience in code-coupled simulations and analysis; 6) Experience in technical leading of multi-disciplinary and complex technical projects; 7) Programming/scripting tools, including Fortran or Python, and MATLAB; and, 8) Developing a solution to a partial or loosely defined technical problem.
  • Experience can be gained through academic coursework and/or work experience. Some travel (up to 20%) may be required to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
  • May telecommute from home one to two days per week.
