Sr. Supplier Development Engineer

 

Your Day to Day:

Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for:

  • Personal, industrial, and nuclear safety as a fundamental part of their job
  • Leading and supporting assigned cost reduction and new product projects
  • De-risking new suppliers though technical assessments and development
  • Supporting resolution of supplier issues and negative performance trends
  • Identifying, proposing, and implementing performance improvements
  • Identifying and leading timely resolution of quality/technical issues
  • Learning, applying, and reinforcing Nuclear Safety Culture Traits and Human Performance Tools at Westinghouse and with our suppliers
  • Leading supplier development and qualification activities for new products and cost reduction efforts. This includes identification of project risks and mitigating actions, managing project schedules, approval of supplier process documents, process capability analyses, measurement system analyses, input to design for manufacturability, etc.
  • Performing technical assessments of new suppliers for manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, compliance with applicable regulations, codes & standards, and associated risks
  • Performing Supplier development activities to implement or improve Supplier quality management systems and/or manufacturing processes to meet Westinghouse requirements
  • Performing on-site and remote supplier oversight to ensure Westinghouse technical and quality requirements are achieved
  • Owning internal and supplier corrective action requests, performing cause analyses and verifying completion of preventative and corrective actions
  • Supporting and escalating significant “quality events”, coordinating activities, issuing timely communications, identifying stakeholders, etc. to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition, & corrective action
  • Evaluating procurement risk, soliciting stakeholder input, and leveraging tools and resources to develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
  • Work with Design Engineering to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to support suppliers.
  • Support implementation of Value Analysis/Value Engineering, Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing principles during the design process.

 

Required to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Engineering
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge in manufacturing processes
  • Machining, welding, assembly of components, I&C, etc.
  • Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs, etc.
  • Ability to identify key project tasks, develop schedules, manage spend
  • Experience supporting multiple, concurrent cross functional projects
  • Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and Power Point
  • Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications made to ASME standards
  • Experience with nuclear products and standards desired
  • Project Management experience desired
  • Effective communication with different disciplines and functions
