Project Procurement Lead – Americas Operations

 

General Job Fuctions: 

 

Procurement leader responsible for managing multiple procurement projects by working with cross-functional teams to implement successful projects within allotted time, resource, and budget requirements. This position will manage procurement programs to ensure project schedules are met, resources are utilized effectively, and the proper relationships are established between internal and external teams. This role is responsible for cost, schedule, performance, integration, and risk identification/mitigation on procurement projects including, but not limited to, materials, equipment, services, and other activities.

 

Candidate will interface with internal and external teams: Operations, Materials, Supplier Performance, Engineering, Quality, and external suppliers. Strong interpersonal relationship skills are required to manage internal stakeholders and external suppliers to provide timely and innovative solutions to meet the project and company needs.

 

Job Description:

  • Provide project direction to suppliers utilizing the procurement strategy, lead the solicitation of proposals, assist project teams with analyzing proposals, provide supplier selection recommendation, ensure completion of project risk assessments, and negotiate project price, delivery, and terms for complex and specialized equipment, materials, and services.
  • Support Category Managers by executing sourcing strategies to achieve business goals while driving continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to maximize procurement and delivery effectiveness. 
  • Understand all the key operational & commercial elements of strategic and preferred suppliers to effectively communicate opportunities, challenges, and long-term plans and actions to internal audience including project team and leadership to support procurement strategy
  • Maintain good working relationships with existing suppliers.  Assist with disputes, including schedule and quality issue resolution.
  • Manage tracking of supplier actions for delivering on commitments for proposals, technical clarifications, document submittals, etc.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Business Development, Program Management, Operations, and all other related functions with focus on on-time delivery, quality, cost reduction & appropriate translation of customer and/or business unit requirements.
  • Align with functional stakeholders to incorporate product and manufacturing strategies into contract strategy while gaining leadership support.
  • Ensure compliance within assigned reporting area with all business standards, internal policies, and legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and communicate key project milestone updates and risks for key stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage risks and escalate as appropriate for risk mitigation.
  • Work within budget constraints to ensure procurements are executed without cost overruns.

  • Cross Functional Collaboration: “Build the bridge” across different departments (Engineering, SPE, Global Procurement, internal stakeholders, suppliers) to develop a strong execution plan in serving our customer.  
  • Innovation & Digitalization: Scout the market to identify new technology that creates value to the end customer. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Strong Negotiating, Benchmarking, Market Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, and Project Procurement Management skills
  • Experience with vendor management including purchase order issuance, execution, and administration
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze and draw conclusions from quantitative data
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage at all organizational levels, ability to cultivate and sustain high quality professional relationships
  • Ability to amicably and professionally resolve disputes with suppliers
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team environment
  • Must be creative and have strong problem-solving skills along with time-management, prioritizing, planning and self-direction skills
  • Ability to maintain long term productive relationship with suppliers (SRM)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage data and workflows in a database environment
  • ERP system or similar system experience in a global environment is beneficial (SAP & Ariba)
  • Ability to travel 10%

 

 

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

  • BA/BS in areas of Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or similar discipline
  • 5 years of procurement experience with 3 years of leading sourcing projects
  • Not required, but CPM (or similar) is a plus
