Summer Intern - Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic Design

About the role:

As a Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic Design intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the engineering analyses that help define reactor core operating limits and thermal margins. You will learn from experienced nuclear engineers while using industry-specific tools and methodologies to support reactor core design and safety.

You will report to the Thermal Hydraulic Design Manager and be located at our Cranberry, PA facility. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will receive training in reactor core thermal hydraulic design
• You will learn about reactor core design, fuel features, operating parameters, and engineering methodologies
• You will perform reactor core thermal hydraulic design analyses by using the internally developed subchannel and related tools, following approved methodologies
• You will work directly with industry professionals who will provide mentoring on both the technical and professional aspects working in the nuclear industry
• You will present project results and technical findings to engineering teams and leadership

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in or master's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field
• Completed Sophomore year of college
• Experience with programming, computer simulation, and Linux

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.40 to $29.00 per hour.
