The Head of Waste and RP fulfils a key leadership position within the Westinghouse European D+D organisation, responsible for a team of waste management experts and radiation protection advisors who deliver across range of projects to UK nuclear clients. The team has grown organically over the past 2 years to respond to client needs, and now requires a leader with the strategic vision and leadership experience to drive growth to the next stage. The role is based in the UK with some European travel.

 

Key Accountabilities Include:

 

Customer Delivery Accountabilities:

 

  • Delivery of the waste management and radiation protection aspects of Westinghouse client projects across a range of UK nuclear sites, ensuring a client-centric approach.
  • Identification of value-based solutions for client bids and offers
  • Interfaces with Westinghouse Global Sales organisation to jointly identify new opportunities in the waste management market to underpin long-term growth.
  • Technical input to the Westinghouse SMART Project (Springfields Melter for Advanced Recycling and Treatment) and related stakeholder discussions.
  • Support to the Westinghouse Springfields site, as needed, especially related to new infrastructure programmes.
  • Work closely with all Westinghouse functions and departments to ensure successful project delivery

  • Line Management of the UK Waste Management Team
  • Provide strategic direction and development of the function in line with future growth opportunities
  • Planning and recruitment of resources to meet strategic and project requirements
  • Mentoring and coaching of team members to enable personal and team development
  • Implementing SQEP assessments, technical training, and career progression.
  • Collaborate with EHSS and Quality teams to ensure delivery meets all required standards and expectations

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • Experienced leader with nuclear waste management / technical background
  • Excellent communication skills and coaching style of leadership.
  • An established network of personal contacts in place with key UK nuclear clients would be beneficial
  • Experience in directing resources to work as part of multi-discipline delivery teams

Location and Travel:

 

Flexible location: The Head of Waste Management can be based at our offices at Westlakes Science Park in Cumbria or at our Springfields site near Preston and will be required to travel throughput the UK to support projects, with some European travel.
